Who we are

Ask Bella™ is a caregiver education and coaching platform built on the Bella Cares Dignity-First™ Care Method, created by Gayon Buchanan, LPN. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain language.

Information you give us

Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile information those services return.

Care plan content: anything you choose to enter in the Care Plan Builder — life story, routines, preferences, triggers, medical conditions, emergency contacts and similar notes.

Coaching conversations: when you are signed in, your Ask Bella sessions are saved to your account so you can return to them.

Feedback: what you write in the feedback form, plus an email address if you provide one.

How we use it

To give you coaching responses, to save and print your care plans, to keep your account secure, to answer your feedback, and to understand which caregiving topics people need help with so we can improve the guidance.

We do not sell your information. We do not use your care plan content or conversations for advertising.

Analytics — what we measure

When you ask Bella a question, we record a single topic label (for example “Sleep & sundowning” or “Bathing & hygiene”) and the time it was asked. The words you typed are not included in that record, and the topic label is not linked to your account or identity.

We also collect ordinary technical information such as page visits and error reports so we can keep the app working.

Artificial intelligence

Ask Bella is an AI assistant, not a human clinician. Your message is sent to a third-party AI model provider so a response can be generated. Do not include full names, addresses, insurance numbers, or other identifying details you would not want processed by a service provider.

Storage and security

Your data is stored in an access-controlled cloud database. Care plans and coaching sessions are restricted so that only your own signed-in account can read them. Transport is encrypted. No online service can promise perfect security, so please avoid entering information you would not be comfortable storing online.

HIPAA and health information

Ask Bella is a caregiver education and coaching platform, not a healthcare provider, covered entity, or business associate under HIPAA. The service is not intended to store, transmit, or manage protected health information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA.

To protect privacy, do not enter full names, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, insurance information, detailed diagnoses, or other information that could identify a care recipient or qualify as PHI under HIPAA. Keep care plans and coaching notes focused on general caregiving preferences, routines, and dignity-first strategies.

We use reasonable technical safeguards such as encrypted transport and access controls, but we do not represent that the platform meets HIPAA security or breach-notification requirements. If you are a healthcare provider or covered entity subject to HIPAA, consult your compliance officer before using this service with identifiable patient information.

Children

Ask Bella is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

Your choices

You can edit or clear your care plan at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its contents. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, or restrict use of your information.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially, we will note it here with a new effective date. Questions or requests: use the Feedback button anywhere in the app and include your email address.
